The Meditator Interview: Tim Hopkins

Tim Hopkins has been practising meditating for many years. He tells us how The Meditator helps him to find centre and connect to a higher purpose.

Do you meditate? Is there a certain ritual you do or a way you find stillness in this moment?

Yes, as part of a routine I endeavour to meditate for 20 minutes every evening.

Did you have a spiritual background growing up?

I liked being in nature, feeling connected to the vast universe and the great wisdom of teachers who come from that place. That is all the spiritual grounding I needed.

If a passer-by asked you what The Meditator symbol meant to you, what would you say?

Compassion for all – myself, others, all life. I wear The Meditator every day to centre me and remind me why I am here: to make a contribution and help everyone in their quest for spiritual freedom.

Have you found the symbol of The Meditator helpful during the turbulence of the last two years?

When there have been times of stress, uncertainty or doubt it has reminded me that this existence is transitory and mostly random, and in whatever activity I find myself to remember that I am part of it all. My duty is to just make more beautiful what I find in front of me every day.

Do you appreciate the symbolic meaning behind The Meditator?

Yes, anything to remind us in this mortal existence that we are here for something ‘higher’ is critical.

Do you find that The Meditator helps to ground you in this moment?

Wearing it as a necklace means there is a daily ritual of taking it on and off which grounds me, and I can always touch it as a centring reminder throughout the day.

Do you look at the symbol of The Meditator as a sense of self?

It is a reminder that there is more to life and us than our minds can conceptualise. It reminds me of a higher self that I can feel but can’t consciously know.

Does The Meditator make you feel empowered?

It makes me feel responsible. I feel my life, my actions, my intentions can change the universe just as a butterfly’s beating wings change the weather. That feeling of responsibility and higher purpose makes me feel empowered.

Has The Meditator inspired you to be more present in the moment?

Yes – although it also gets me to build a beautiful future in my mind’s eye and continuously move towards it. So I feel connected to my actions now and the future that I am living into, all of which are one.

Do you feel like The Meditator holds a vibrational force? If so, what kind of force?

Love. Anything created in love, shared in love and experienced in love holds a deep force that can endlessly ripple.

If you could give one piece of advice to someone looking to start meditating what would it be?

Remember you are it. Everything you yearn for is already inside you – that’s why you know that you want it, because you already know it is who you really are. Be at peace in meditation – it is all coming.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Be patient – you are on the right track. Hold faith.

Have you made any resolutions for the year?

To continue to move towards restoring global ecosystems.

What have the past two years shown you about yourself?

They have reminded me that following the purpose I feel in my heart is never a wasted journey.

What inspires and motivates you?

The knowledge that we are all here to build beauty and that we are collectively moving towards self-realisation. Even in trauma, there is a kernel of something magnificent that will come from it. Darkness helps us see the light, therefore nothing is wrong. We are all on the divine path, even when we doubt it.
